Support

Most setup problems come down to one of the things below. If none of them helps, get in touch and describe what both screens are showing.

Setting up

1. Install Luna on both devices.
2. On the old phone, choose Alarm Clock. Setup asks for your child's name and for notification permission, and offers to keep the screen unlocked and turn on Do Not Disturb so nothing wakes your child.
3. On your own phone, choose Parental Device.
4. Your phone lists the clocks it can see on the network. Pick yours and type the 4 digit code shown on the clock's screen.

The two devices cannot find each other

Both phones have to be on the same Wi-Fi network, and that network has to allow devices to talk to each other. Guest networks and some mesh routers block that by default, which is the usual cause. On iOS, check that Luna has the local network permission in Settings. On Android, check that Wi-Fi is actually connected rather than falling back to mobile data.

The pairing code stopped working

Codes are valid for five minutes. Reopen the pairing screen on the clock to get a fresh one.

The alarm did not ring

The clock device needs to stay awake and plugged in. Check that its volume is up, that Do Not Disturb is off, and that the battery optimiser is not allowed to suspend Luna. Alarms ramp up from silence over about six seconds and then ring for a minute, so a very quiet start is normal.

Wake-up sounds will not download

Sounds are fetched once and then cached. If the clock device has no internet access it will fall back to the alarm tone that is built into the app, which always works offline.

The screen does not line up inside my printed case

Open the framing screen in the app and adjust the padding and corner radius until the display sits square inside the case opening. If you have not printed a case yet, thecase configuratorgenerates one sized to your exact phone.

Getting into the clock's settings

Press and hold the settings button on the clock screen, then answer the arithmetic question. It is deliberately fiddly so a child does not wander in.

Making it a dedicated device (Android)

On Android you can set Luna as the launcher. The clock then starts when the phone boots, comes back by itself after an update, and your child cannot leave the app. Setup offers this, and you can change it later under Settings, Device Management, Default Launcher.

To undo it, open the clock's settings as described above, go to Default Launcher, and pick your normal launcher.

Starting over

Settings, Device Management, Reset Device clears the mode, your child's name and the stored settings, and returns the app to setup.

Is Luna free?

Yes. There are no ads, nothing is behind a subscription and no feature is locked. You can make an optional purchase to support development, which adds your first name to the supporters list in the app, but you get the whole app either way. What that involves is set out in theprivacy policy.

Requirements

• Two devices on the same Wi-Fi network.
• Android 7.0 or later, or iOS 15 or later, on the clock device.
• A charger for the clock device. It runs all night.
